Marianne Moore (Марианна Мур)

To William Butler Yeats on Tagore

It is made clear by the phrase,
even the mood—by virtue of which he says

the thing he thinks—that it pays,
to cut gems even in these conscience-less days;

but the jewel that always
outshines ordinary jewels, is your praise.

Marianne Moore's other poems:
  1. Diligence Is to Magic as Progress Is to Flight
  2. Reinforcements
  3. You Are Like the Realistic Product of an Idealistic Search for Gold at the Foot of the Rainbow
  4. Feed Me, Also, River God
  5. Those Various Scalpels
