Stephen Crane (Стивен Крейн)

* * *

There was a man who lived a life of fire.
Even upon the fabric of time,
Where purple becomes orange
And orange purple,
This life glowed,
A dire red stain, indelible;
Yet when he was dead,
He saw that he had not lived.

Stephen Crane's other poems:
  1. Blustering God
  2. You tell me this is God?
  3. Once a man clambering to the housetops
  4. On the horizon the peaks assembled
  5. There came whisperings in the winds
