Poem by Robert Burns

On Edmund Burke by an Opponent and a Friend to Warren Hastings

Oft have I wonder’d that, on Irish Ground,
No poisonous reptiles ever yet were found:
Reveal’s the secret stands, of Nature’s Work!
She saved her venom, to create a Burke.
