Edward Lear (Эдвард Лир)

* * *

There was an Old Man with a gong,
Who bumped at it all day long;
‎ But they called out, 'O law!
‎        You're a horrid old bore!'
So they smashed that Old Man with a gong.

Edward Lear's other poems:
  1. There was an Old Man of the Isles
  2. There was an Old Person of Leeds
  3. There was an Old Man of the West
  4. There was an Old Person of Ischia
  5. There was an Old Man in a boat
