William Ernest Henley (Уильям Эрнст Хенли)

Echoes. 23. The Skies Are Strown with Stars

The skies are strown with stars,
The streets are fresh with dew
A thin moon drifts to westward,
The night is hushed and cheerful.
My thought is quick with you.

Near windows gleam and laugh,
   And far away a train
Clanks glowing through the stillness:
A great content’s in all things,
And life is not in vain.

William Ernest Henley's other poems:
  1. In Hospital. 12. Etching
  2. Rhymes and Rhythms. 21. When the Wind Storms by with a Shout, and the Stern Sea-Caves
  3. In Hospital. 14. Ave, Caeser!
  4. Beside the Idle Summer Sea
  5. Echoes. 22. The West a Glimmering Lake of Light
